John R. Dick joined Western Union as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in March, 2008. In that role he has accountability for all information systems and technology functions across the company. A native of Arlington, Virginia, Dick has more than 28 years of financial services and information technology experience. Most recently, he served as EVP and CIO of Regions Financial Corporation, a top ten financial services company headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. In that role he was widely recognized in the industry for innovation and effective technology leadership. Dick has served in senior leadership and consulting positions with GMAC, First Union (now Wachovia) Corporation, Price Waterhouse and Crestar (now Suntrust) Bank. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Dick earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and graduated from the School for Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin. He has served on the Information Technology board of American University’s Kogod Graduate School of Business, and the global advisory boards of Microsoft and NCR Teradata. He also manages key IT relationships with HP, BT, Accenture, SAP, and Oracle that help drive the necessary operations and innovations for P&G’s Global Business Services (GBS) organization. In addition, Jim plays an active role in sponsoring global IT talent supply, as well as U.S. diversity. Jim has been in the shared services organization from the beginning. Prior to joining P&G, he spent four years in accounting and finance with the U.S. Air Force and four years as an information systems analyst/programmer. Personal values of importance to Jim include deepening his faith, developing his family spiritually, and establishing relationships built on honesty, trust, dedication, and work. Greg Simpson joined Synchrony Financial in 2014 as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Greg works closely with Synchrony Financial’s CIO on developing the company’s technology strategy and sits on Synchrony Financial’s IT Steering Committee. Overseeing a large global team, Greg is responsible for key IT functions including enterprise architecture, business intelligence, business continuity management, data centers, voice and data networks, service delivery and operations as well as end user services and collaboration. Based in our Kettering, Ohio offices, Greg serves on the IT Engagement Committee and is a senior leader supporting Synchrony Financial’s Business Leadership Program and a mentor to many within the IT team. Prior to joining Synchrony Financial, Greg served as GE's Chief Technology Officer for 8 years where he created the shared services infrastructure team that supports all GE businesses. In his role as GE’s CTO, Greg advised GE’s CIO and business CIO's on new technology directions, and served on the company’s IT Council. The “service business” Greg created leveraged GE’s scale to increase controllership and decrease cost as well as facilitated better collaboration across GE through common solutions. The scope of GE’s shared services included more than 15,000 systems, GE’s full collaboration/messaging environment, and data / voice / video solutions around the world. In addition, Greg’s team kicked off the initial commercial cloud supporting the launch of GE’s software Center of Excellence. Greg has an extensive IT career that spans more than 30 years with GE. Prior to becoming the CTO of GE in November of 2005, Greg served in a number of business CTO roles, including GE's Healthcare, Aviation and Lighting businesses. Greg also was the CIO for a major GE Healthcare acquisition and earlier in his career, served as Commercial Quality leader for GE Lighting, where he led Six Sigma initiatives including the implementation of one of the first web-based order tracking/status systems at GE. Greg has presented and moderated panels at industry events such as the CIO Summit, AGENDA16, and P&G’s Big Data Goldmine event. A regular spokesperson on business technology trends, Greg has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and other national media and contributes a monthly ‘Experiencing Digital’ blog for CIO.com.
