Named to this role in July 2007, Bob oversees all global Information Technology groups and services at Steelcase. Previously, Bob was vice president, Global Technology Infrastructure (appointed July 2005). In that role, he co-led global IT services at Steelcase, with responsibility for systems, networks and associated technical services for all of Steelcase, including North America, International and the Steelcase Design Partnership companies.
Bob joined Steelcase in 1992 as a consulting and systems programmer, responsible for the design, implementation and support of the data communications network. Other roles he has held with the company are manager of Network Services (August – December 1997), overseeing the implementation and support of the voice and data communications infrastructure for Steelcase North America; director of the Business Technology Group, (December 1997 – October 2002), responsible for the design and implementation of the infrastructure systems of Steelcase North America; and director of Technical Services and Operations (October 2002 – July 2005), responsible for all aspects of Steelcase North America’s technology infrastructure, including the deployment, operation and support of the infrastructure’s hardware and software systems.
Prior to joining Steelcase, Bob worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in New Hampshire from July 1984 to September 1992, where he was a principal software engineer. In that role, he designed and implemented major software systems for transaction processing, network communication and database integration systems.
