Simon Jacobson is a Vice President in Gartner's Supply Chain research organization. He is responsible for Gartner's manufacturing strategy and systems research. He works with Vice Presidents and Directors of Manufacturing, business process experts and leaders of Operations Excellence and Continuous Improvement, and enterprise architecture and IT roles supporting manufacturing operations. He also works with providers of technologies and services for manufacturing operations. Mr. Jacobson's research agenda and client work span multiple manufacturing industries and production styles and focus on: * Current and future role of manufacturing as part of end-to-end supply chain strategy * How to approach production systems, metrics and continuous improvement as part of manufacturing strategy * Factory of the future and manufacturing network design * Manufacturing execution systems (MES) and other functional applications * The impacts of breakthrough technologies on IT architecture for manufacturing operations Prior to joining Gartner in late 2009, Mr. Jacobson led AMR Research's manufacturing operations research. He is frequently quoted in the press and presents frequently at industry events worldwide.
