Cook County Commissioner
Robert Steele, Cook County Commissioner, serves as President Pro Tempore of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, Chair of the Cook County Contract Compliance Committee and Vice-Chair of the Cook County Health and Hospitals and Environmental Control Committees. He also serves as Chair of the Contract Compliance Committee and Vice-Chair of Finance and Environmental Control Committees of the Forest Preserve District. Nationally, he serves as Chair of the Defined Contribution and Retirement Advisory Committee for the National Association of Counties. Commissioner Steele also served as President of the National Association of Black County Officials (NABCO).
Commissioner Steele goal is to provide results for what matters most and bring solutions to the communities he serves. He contributed to the establishment and growth of North Lawndale small businesses, training and placement of North Lawndale youth and employment programs in partnership with Joyce’s Fine Arts Academy. He was instrumental in organizing the Chicago Park District Councils to improve community parks and bringing Empowerment Zone economic development programs to the City of Chicago.
