Dick Thompson has been the Chief Information Officer for Maine State Government, since April 2003. In July 2005, Dick modernized IT in Maine State Government to an enterprise approach, improving services, enhancing security, reducing costs, and supporting the rapidly evolving eGovernment model. Dick has been appointed to several Boards in Maine, including the ConnectME authority which will provide broadband and cellular communications to all citizens of Maine. In 1998, Dick was awarded the “Public Administrator of the Year” award by the Maine Chapter of the ASPA and has twice been named Manager of the Year by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. On the national level, Dick serves on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) and has been active since 1986 in the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), serving as president three times. He most recently received the Association's 1999 Guilio Mazzone Distinguished Service Award for his continued service to public purchasing.
