Prior to his appointment with the Smart Grid Division, Ravi worked more than 13 years for Siemens on a variety of projects as an Architect and Technical Lead, integrating IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operations Technology) to provide modern, integrated systems for managing the grid and energy markets. Some examples are the PJM Advanced Control Center (PJM AC2) project and the California ISO Market Redesign and Technology Update (MRTU) project. Both projects extensively use common IT tools and frameworks to build modern, flexible and resilient operations systems for managing the electrical grid. As the lead for the Alliance RTO project in 1999, he worked on building a pioneering SCADA/EMS as a service accessible over a WAN for 10 utilities. Prior to this he had delivered SCADA/EMS systems to various utilities such as Hydro Quebec in Montreal, Northern States Power in Minneapolis. Ravi received a B.S. in Computer Science from Purdue University.
