Dr. Ramesh Gopal is an accomplished banking professional with over 23 years of experience in risk management and relationship management across corporate, sovereign, structured financing, investment, and retail banking, spanning both conventional and Islamic finance. Currently serving as Chief Risk Officer (UAE & Saudi) and Head of Credit Risk (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa) at Deutsche Bank, he has successfully managed risk across more than 50 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa. A member of the UAE Banking Federation Risk Advisory Council and Supervisory Board member of Deutsche Bank Russia, Dr. Gopal has also held senior positions with Barclays Bank, Noor Bank, Union National Bank, and ING Bank. His expertise covers credit risk assessment, underwriting, policy design, risk advisory, operational risk, market and liquidity risk, and remedial asset management. Recognized globally for his contributions, he has received multiple prestigious honors, including the ‘Global Indian of the Year 2020-21’ award, the Stevie Gold Award for innovative management, and the Business Leader of the Year award in the UK.
