As Chief Information Officer and Director General Paul Wagner has lead the Knowledge, Information and Technology Services branch (KITS) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) since August 2016. Previously, as the Senior Director General, Innovation and Chief Information Officer for Library and Archives Canada, Paul provided the leadership for the Digital Agenda to acquire, preserve and render accessible Canada’s Documentary Heritage. He was responsible for the Information Technology and Information Management functions of the department and served on a number of national and international boards and associations focused on furthering the use of technology in a digital world. Paul’s previous positions include Director General, Client Relationships and Business Intake Directorate at Shared Services Canada (SSC). He joined SSC from the Department of Justice (DoJ) where he was Chief Information Officer and developed and led an IM/IT transformation program. Prior to that, Paul was the Chief Technology Officer at DoJ where he was responsible for all technology operations. Paul also held several leadership positions at Services Canada, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada in the areas of Business Planning, Relationship Management and IT Product/Service Management.
