As CIO, Mike leads all information technology and clinical engineering initiatives designed to deliver the next generation digital hospital to the region. Michael has 19 years of experience in information technology management and has extensive experience managing global teams in the United States and Asia. Prior to joining Sentara Healthcare, Michael served as CIO at Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi, CIO at Providence Health and Services Chief Technology and Strategy Officer. In 2006, Michael was named one of the Top 25 Most Innovative People in Healthcare IT by Health IT and Imaging magazine for his work in provider-based disease management. In 2002, he was recognized by InfoWorld for his leadership and innovation in Service Oriented Architecture. Michael is a member of the IBM Board of Advisors, and has also served on the board of Microsoft Health Users Group and Technical Advisor to McKesson Corporation in the areas of electronic medical record (EMR) standards and integration strategy.
