Mike Carper is the Director of Technology Management for Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago - having joined them in 2002. Mike has been in the technology field for over 15 years. Acting in the roles of CTO and CSO, he is responsible for the security, architecture, and operational support for technology infrastructure that supports the delivery of patient care at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Mike joined GTE in 1988 and held several engineering positions in the design of wireline and wireless communications systems. From 1995 through 1997, Mike was responsible for the IT operations for the Midwest and the West Coast areas. In 1998, Mike had nationwide responsibility for the architecture of the distributed environment for the GTE Wireless environment.
In 1999, Mike joined Charles Schwab & Co. where he put in place a nationwide security function for the internal distributed environment. Mike has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a master's degree in Information and Communications Science from Ball State. Mike was recently an adjunct professor at Ball State University, where he taught graduate courses in wireless communications.
