Melvin Kirk is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Ryder System, Inc., a FORTUNE 500® commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation, and supply chain solutions company. He is a member of Ryder’s Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for all aspects of Ryder’s IT organization, including technology vision and strategy, operations and project management, infrastructure and software development, resource optimization, and systems development lifecycle.
Mr. Kirk joined Ryder in 2012 as Vice President of Maintenance, Engineering & Quality Operations within the Fleet Management Solutions organization. In that role, his strong leadership and commitment to teamwork helped Ryder usher in a new era of low emission engine technologies, while launching new diagnostic tools and quality measures that enhanced the performance of the Company’s industry-leading maintenance organization.
Throughout a career that began more than 25 years ago, Mel has gained a broad base of leading- edge experiences including: building organizations; launching new technologies; supporting rapid growth; envisioning and implementing innovations to deliver business value; and developing and leading Six Sigma innovation teams. As one of General Electric’s first certified Master Black Belts in 1996, he brings world-class quality and operational expertise to the culture of his work teams and the projects they undertake. He has led the successful turnaround of operating divisions in the government and commercial sectors, and has managed teams in 95 countries.
