In march 2003, Matthew Miszewski was appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the state of Wisconsin by Governor Jim Doyle. He oversees the state's approximately $400 million annual investment in information technology. Matthew coordinated efforts to reduce IT-related spending across state agencies by $40 million for the 2003-05 biennium and under his leadership Division of Enterprise Technology implemented initiatives that are saving nearly $30 million per year across state and local governments on an ongoing basis. Government Technology magazine named Matthew as one of its Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers for 2004. Matthew is the President and Board Member of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) and chaired 2005 NASCIO Programs Committee. He is also a Board member of the University of Wisconsin E-Business Consortium and Chairs the State of Wisconsin Technology Leadership Council.
