The New Mexico State Senate unanimously confirmed Governor Bill Richardson's nomination of Secretary Marlin Mackey to lead the Department of Information Technology on March 9, 2009. "Marlin Mackey's extensive experience, on both the public and private sides of information technology, has prepared him well for this post," Governor Bill Richardson said. "He has already proven his leadership during the few months in which he's served as Secretary Designee." Secretary Mackey looks forward to working along side every agency and assisting them in making their information technology projects and initiatives successful. Secretary Mackey has more than 35 years of management experience in both the public and private sectors, including serving as Senior Vice President for Syntel Inc., a global consulting and systems integration firm. He has also served as Deputy Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions; as Chief Information Officer of the State Land Office; and he is a veteran of the Department of Transportation.
