Lionel Lamy is a research director in IDC's European Software and Services Group. In this role, he is responsible for research focusing on the growing infrastructure services segment. Specific areas of research include utility computing, managed services, especially around the desktop and network areas, datacenter services, as well as voice, data, and video convergence. Virtualization and mobility also often fall within his broad services remit.
Furthermore, Lamy has also been involved in research on storage and security services as well as service level management issues, and he is a frequent presenter at conferences, customer events, and road shows.
Prior to joining IDC in 1999, Lamy spent four years with the ICL Group (now Fujitsu Services). As desktop service development manager, he developed standard services in the Operational Services Division. Prior to that, Lamy was a market research and European business planning manager in the outsourcing division of ICL. In addition, as a product marketing manager, Lamy compiled comprehensive research on the managed services market. Lamy has a degree in marketing and international business from Angers Business School in France.
