John Stevenson is a past president of the Society for Information Management. He is a recent Chief Information Officer with over 25 years of senior executive experience. His broad experience includes key executive assignments in large corporations spanning high technology, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and heavy manufacturing industries. John's most recent assignment was as Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Sharp Electronics Corporation, a maker of consumer and business electronics. There he managed information technology for the Americas Group for this global company. John previously served as Chief Information Officer at Avaya Communications, a $6 billion manufacturer of voice and data switching equipment, he was also the corporate information officer at Lennox International, the number two global heating and air conditioner equipment manufacturer. During the late 1990's, John was the top information executive for the Bristol-Myers-Squibb $16 billion Pharmaceutical Group and for over eight years prior to that he was the lead information executive at Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Corporation. In the 1980's at the age of 35, John became the top information executive at Princeton Packaging Company. In his early IT career he held a number of information technology management assignments at United Technology Corporation and Texas Instruments Corporation. John presently serves on the board as Vice Chairman of the Barton Group, a global mining and abrasives manufacturer. He is current president of JG Stevenson Associates. He also serves on the boards of GridApp Software Corporation and The Society for Information Management Foundation.
