Joseph “Joe” Eng is JetBlue’s Executive Vice President of Systems and Technology, and is responsible for the value airline’s IT strategy, development and execution. Joe joined JetBlue in March 2008 and reports to Rob Maruster, JetBlue’s Chief Operating Officer.
JetBlue’s reputation as a savvy user of technology stems from the very first days of the New York-based airline’s operation. The majority of JetBlue travel is sold via the
website. As JetBlue has grown, new challenges have emerged, including the scalability of the operational infrastructure, providing a broader array of destinations through alliances with other airlines, and new customer-facing opportunities, such as in-flight access to email and instant messaging capabilities. In October 2008, JetBlue opened Terminal 5 at JFK, a state-of-the-art environment as part of the customer-focused and friendly JetBlue experience. Mr. Eng was recognized by CIO Magazine as one of the top 100 CIOs in 2009 for innovation with our transition to the Sabre platform.
Joe was previously President and Chief Executive Officer of Spectrum Systems, a provider of IT solutions and services to the public and private sectors. Prior to that, he held leadership positions in the telecommunications industry.
