Jerry Horton joined the US Agency for International Development as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in February 2009. As CIO, Mr. Horton is responsible for information management. business services, infrastructire operations, and cyber security across USAID. Prior to joining USAID, Mr. Horton was the Associate Director and CIO for the US Mint in The Department of the Treasury, and he acted as the US Mint's Deputy Director from June 2005 through Spetember 2006.
Before Joining the Federal Government, Mr. Horton spent five years working in the .COM field with a diverse set of startups and small businesses located in Austin, Texas and Washington, DC> Mr Horton worked at Motorola Semiconductor, in Austin, TX, from 1993 through 1997. beginning as a systems analyst and progressing to manager of the Network and Computing group before ultimately leading the New Technology Development group. Prior to his time with Motorola, Mr. Horton managed a large scale technology transition for the EPA in Corvalis, OR, initiated the global customer support operation for nCube, a supercomputer manufacturer in Beaverton, OR, worked as a developer for Cray Compuer Corporation, a supercomputer spinoff of Cray Research Inc., and started the software development group of Shepard's/McGraw-hill, a leagal publisher in Colorado Springs, CO.
