Dr. Janis L. Gogan holds EdM, MBA, and DBA degrees from Harvard University. A member of the Information & Process Management faculty at Bentley College, she teaches IT management and conducts field-based research on complex IT projects, management of emerging technologies, inter-organizational systems, eCommerce strategies, and inter-organizational information sharing in time-pressed situations. Janis' publications include 30 Harvard Business School cases, which have been taught in the U.S. and around the world. She is also a former columnist at Information Week. Currently Janis teaches a required MBA course at Bentley titled, Strategic Information Fundamentals. The course helps future managers recognize how companies use IT for business value, the challenges in ensuring system and process reliability, the non-IT manager's role in assessing and helping to mitigate IT project risks, the role of the CIO and the board of directors in IT planning and governance, and the unique business and technical challenges brought on by the rapid advancement of hardware, software and communications technologies. Since the 1980's, Janis has been researching on how companies identify, purchase and assimilate new technologies. Her current focus is telemedicine tools and processes in urgent care situations.
