James (Jamie) M. Popkin is a Vice President and Gartner Fellow in the Data and Analytics team of Gartner Research. Mr. Popkin is currently covering data and analytics strategy, Office of the Chief Data Officer/Chief Analytics Officer topics, advanced analytics strategy, and business analytics strategy topics. He previously managed the Gartner for Technical Professionals Data Management and Professional Effectiveness teams. He is a former Chairman of Gartner U.S. and Japan Symposium/ITxpo. He formerly ran Gartner Research in Asia/Pacific and Japan, is the co-author of "IT and the East: How China and India Are Altering the Future of Technology and Innovation," and was the founder of the Gartner China Outsourcing Summit
