James M. Spitze, SCC's Co-founder and Managing Partner, has 25+ experience in the Information Systems field as a high level consultant and, separately, 20+ years experience as a Chief Information Officer (for QANTAS, Tencor Instruments, Lam Research, American President Lines, Xerox Data Systems, Singer Furniture, Village Resorts, and Tri Valley Growers).
Mr. Spitze has assisted over 150 private and public sector clients with their Information Technology issues. For the last decade, his primary area of interest has been information systems planning and strategy. He has assessed the information systems situation of numerous major worldwide organizations and has assisted many of those organizations to develop "Board-approved" strategic information systems plans.
He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and a founding member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has lectured on information technology subjects for the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley where he is a long-standing member of The Faculty Club.
In addition to his position as the Managing Partner of SCC, Mr. Spitze serves concurrently as the Executive Director of The Fisher CIO Leadership Program of the Fisher Center For Information Technology And Management within the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Spitze has a BS and MSEE in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley where he also pursued Ph.D. studies in the area of Computer Architecture. He is the co-founder of the Wilsonia Historic District Trust and has served on its Board of Directors for the last twenty years.
