Dr. Greg Hanson is the Assistant Sergeant at Arms and Chief Information Officer (CIO) with US Senate. Prior to his appointment to the Senate, Greg served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Universal Systems & Technology (UNITECH), a Northern Virginia technology firm. Before joining UNITECH, Greg served as CTO at Telos Corporation. Previously, Greg had a distinguished career at the United States Air Force where he served as Chief Software Engineer.
There he developed global software policies and led the agency's $345M Y2K program. He served as Chief Scientist at NATO's Central Region Headquarters, where he managed a $200M command and control project, directed a four-contractor international consortium, and built NATO's largest local area network. His broad experience also includes four years as CIO, Under Secretary Defense (Acquisition), where he led a technology development and support division and managed $110M in contracts and resources.
Greg received numerous accolades for leadership and professional excellence including the 2006 UCF Distinguished Alumnus Award, Federal Computer Week Fed100 Award, AFFIRM's Award for Leadership in Service Excellence and Management, and AFCEA's Gold Medal for Engineering and Excellence in Information Technology awards.
