Gerry McCartney is the VP of Technology and CIO for Purdue University. In June 2009, he became the first Olga Oesterle England professor of information technology. Gerry is currently interested in the commercial opportunities for creating new markets in quantitative research.

He is also investigating the declining role of the general purpose computing facility as a cost center, and the changing relationship between education and the use of technology. Previously, Gerry served as Associate Dean and CIO of the Wharton School for 11 years. Gerry is a frequent speaker at industry and education events on topics surrounding the strategic use of technology and future trends in technology.
