Gavin Nichols is Vice President of Strategy/EA/R&D Innovation IT at Quintiles. Currently Nichols main focus is to drive, vision and mold game changer opportunities for Quintiles business across clinical andcommercial drug development, with the objective of establishing 2-3 rapid incubators per annum, through partnerships across sponsors, vendors, open, crowd, government for compound value creation. Most recently, Nichols focus has been on Big Data and Analytics partnerships which led to a co-development project with a client to establish a service capability, which improves time, cost and variability of Clinical Development.
Nichols joined Quintiles in 2004 with the directive to restructure part of Quintiles organization within the ED&PS division in preparation for divestiture. He led the Clinical Informatics initiative, with the objective of creating enterprise framework for data and services throughout the entire company. He brought with him over 20 years of experience in management consulting, strategic development and analysis, project management and thought leadership. He spent much of his time developing his experience at a variety of different companies including Unisys, Collaborex and Cap Gemini holding positions ranging from Principal Consultant to Start-up owner.
At Unisys Nichols established, developed and led the Life Sciences practice within the Global commercial industries group. Included this time at Unisys, Nichols created a joint-venture outsourcing model with two of the largest global pharmaceutical companies.
