Dean Pipes is Chief Architect and Chief Technology Officer for Zurich Insurance in North America. Zurich Insurance is a global leader in managing risk. In North America, Zurich is one of the largest commercial property and casualty insurers with customers ranging from multinational corporations to mid-sized companies.
Dean has been a practicing enterprise architect at Zurich for a decade. In his current role, he is responsible for implementing all Information Technology in Zurich's new state-of-the-art headquarters facility. The North American business is currently building a 750,000 square-foot headquarters facility in Schaumburg, Ill., the North American home to Zurich Insurance Group for more than a century.
He is chief architect on a project to migrate the North American business from Lotus Notes to a Microsoft platform. Dean also drives Zurich’s global video collaboration strategy. He's a strong advocate and leader for end user computing strategies and technologies. In addition, he is an integral part of the Enterprise Architecture Project Review board for significant projects throughout the organization.
In his free time, Dean enjoys the outdoors. He loves to hike, climb, and train in martial arts.
